Some Monday video randomness:

Check out these crazy jumping penguins. Of course, this would be so much better if they were playing Van Halen's "Jump" while they were...er, jumping.

Although I have no real use for this, I'm pretty sure need it.

I'm not sure if this makes me more or less scared of flying. If they can land in winds that strong, what should I worry about a little bump here and there? On the other hand, it just goes to show how crazy pilots are. ("Me? Oh I just spend my days moving 970,000 lbs of metal at 500 mph, 30,000 ft above the ground. No biggie.")

Watching this amazing run kicked in my anxiety right away. Two women longboarding the Maryhill Freeride, all downhill, at 40 mph.

About a minute in, it becomes almost tranquil. Then you realize THEY MIGHT CRASH!!! Except they don't, thank goodness. Pretty brave stuff. I will not be showing this to my 8 year old.

Props to the camera guy, who appears to be skating along with them.

Keith-moon-1

The Summer Olympic Games are being held in London, England this year. It has been confirmed that the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will officially open the games, and Daniel Craig will play James Bond in a short film during the opening ceremony.

Closing the ceremonies, August 12, will be the Symphony of Rock, a celebration of British pop culture, and will feature musicians who have brought British rock 'n' roll to the world. Sirs Paul McCartney and Elton John are rumoured to be playing, along with the Rolling Stones, Adele, and... er... the Spice Girls.

One thing British rock gave the world were some excellent drummers, so why not include one of those? Since Led Zeppelin's John Bonham is dead, why not get the legendary Who drummer Keith Moon? That's exactly what the Olympic organizers sought to do. Which makes sense...except Moon has been dead for 34 years. Oops.

Madonna2

A few weeks ago I wrote about Madonna being called out by Deadmau5 for talking about drugs during a festival appearance in Florida. Madonna was making reference to "Molly," slang for MDMA, a key ingredient in the drug ecstasy. It seemed that the one time Material Girl, now 53, was trying to seem hip to a younger crowd, although Deadmau5 claimed her drug reference was lame, and irresponsible.

Madonna's new album MDNA is an obvious play on MDMA, and the singer has only been making a few appearances to promote the album, most notably the Super Bowl. The album debuted strongly in it's first week, but it's second week has seen it plummet at a record breaking pace. According to Forbes magazine, MDNA is set to be the biggest second week sales flop in history, with an 88% drop, from 359,000 copies in its first week, to close to 46,000 in its second week in stores. That's quite an achievement.

Kanye-West-and-Kim-Kardashian

Wow. It just keeps getting better weirder. Last year I devoted way too much time to the car wreck that is Kim Kardashian, mainly because this is an entertainment blog, and her life was so messed up it qualified as entertaining.

First there was an engagement ring that cost way too much, leading people to theorize that her beau at the time, Kris Humphries, couldn't actually afford it, and that the network airing her reality show, E!, had bought it, aiming to cover the engagement and the wedding. Then there was the ridiculous wedding itself, an over the top affair that was supposed to (but didn't) rival the royal wedding. Then there was the short period where everything seemed all right. Then there was the break down of the (sham) marriage, and the fallout that had both Kim and Kris throwing stones and claiming they'd been duped by the other.

So what better way to put that typhoon of embarrassment behind you than to start dating someone famous for being as outspoken and outlandish as he is talented, Kanye West.

Rihanna-jayz

Rap superstar Jay-Z has reportedly told his pop superstar wife Beyoncé to tell R&B/pop/dancehall superstar Rihanna to stop hanging out with R&B/pop/maniac Chris Brown if she wants to meet his new baby superstar, Blue Ivy.

As I've written about before, Rihanna has been reportedly getting closer to Chris Brown, the man who beat her three years ago. The two appeared on each others' recent singles, Birthday Cake (Rihanna) and Turn Up The Music, and rumour has it that despite Brown having a girlfriend, the two are becoming close again.

Today, February 8, is Let's Talk Day at Bell. Aiming to encourage people to talk about mental illness, Bell will donate 5¢ for every text sent, long distance call made, or retweet of their official @Bell_LetsTalk page.

I wasn't asked to write about this. I think it's a great cause, and in participating, you're basically helping generate free money at no real cost to yourself.

Spokesperson Clara Hughes, a six-time Olympic medal winner, has publically spoken about battling depression.

Last year Canadians made a total of 66,079,236 text messages and long distance calls on Bell Let’s Talk Day – meaning the company added another $3,303,961.80 to the $50 million it has already committed to Canadian mental health.

I have written about suffering from anxiety before, and I think that, whether you participate in the Bell event or not, comunication is key in helping to bring people out of the shadows of mental illness. So, today, and any other day, don't be afraid to reach out to someone you care about, or are concerned about, and let them know how you feel.

On a lighter note, here's a dog watching table tennis:

Madonna Super Bowl
I am by no means a football fan, or a fan of Madonna for that matter, but I joined 111 million people and tuned into the Super Bowl this past Sunday. The main reason I watched was for the famous halftime show, this year featuring Madonna performing a number of her hits, and being joined by guests including Cee Lo Green, Nicki Minaj, and M.I.A..

Being that it was Madonna, I was really hoping for/expecting some sort of controversy from the once self-professed "Boy Toy." While there was a certain degree of sauciness, cheerleaders and pom poms, it was all pretty primetime tame. That was until M.I.A. flipped the entire world the bird.

Want to see the comedic power that Jonah Hill possesses? Want to see Brad Pitt laugh for 3 minutes?

Apparently Brad and Jonah ran into a bit of a roadblock while filming Moneyball. Time is money, especially in Hollywood. I wonder how much this cost?

Since it's Friday the 13th, with all it's doom and gloom, I thought it might be nice to see a good guy win for a change. I'm talking about Bill Gates, of course. Or, more specifically, Bill Gates jumping completely over a chair from standing still!

Sure, he cheats to the side slightly, kind of like he's been accused of doing in business, but at the time this was filmed (1994) he was 39 years old. I don't think I could have jumped over a chair when I was 9 years old, let alone 39. Mind you, at 9 I would have been too short, but Bill's kind of short too.

Anyway, here's footage from an interview with Connie Chung of Bill Gates jumping over a chair to make your drab Friday the 13th just a little lighter.
