Last week I wrote about the rumours that were going around that Rihanna and Chris Brown were reuniting, at least musically. Judging from the comments that I got, very few readers were supportive of the move; in fact most were downright angry. Perez Hilton was one of the only bloggers to post a denial, claiming that the producer of the song in question, Birthday Cake, was tweeting that Brown was not involved.
The main reason it seemed a bit far fetched was that Brown beat Rihanna in 2009, pled guilty for the assault, did community service, and almost wrecked his career in the process. It would seem that, given all the drama and violence, the two would want to stay clear of each other. After all, what would people think about the character of either one of them if they were to act publicly like everything is "all good" between them?
Now it turns out that not only is Chris Brown on Birthday Cake, but Rihanna has added her vocals to Brown's own single, Turn Up the Music. And both singles dropped yesterday, Rihanna's birthday.
In fact, Chris Brown tweeted publicly to Rihanna wishing her a happy birthday, something that could have been a direct message, if it wasn't supposed to be seen by millions of people to show that the two former combatants are all pals again...with not one but two new singles to promote. Brown even tweeted her real name, Robyn. Maybe he doesn't know how to direct message someone on Twitter, but then Rihanna went and retweeted the message so all her followers could see what he wrote.
Brown is in a relationship with another woman, Karrueche Tran, so it could all be just business...one of the most corrupt going, the music business.
I can't help but feel that, in trying to sell even more records, the drama that surrounds these two young stars is just too juicy, and easy, not to exploit. Remember, both of these artists will only earn a fraction of the money that will be made from album and single sales, the bulk of which will go to their respective labels, publishing companies, and managers. So why not encourage a woman who was beaten, and her assailant, to patch things up in an incredibly public way? There's money to be made, even some for the actual artists being exploited.

I have to agree with Patrick on this, it feels to me like it's all business. I doubt Rihanna will go back to Brown, but his PR People have probably been negotiating with her people to do this public reconciliation thing so that they can get his career back on track.
What Chris Brown did to Rihanna was inexcusable. He was young, and maybe he learned from his mistakes, but I what I think people are most put off by is that he never seemed to show any remorse for what he did. If he would have made a real effort, maybe he could redeem his reputation a bit ... but this whole phony reconciliation thing is a little too in the public's face, and a little too soon. Not to mention that Rihanna's credibility is being dragged through the dirt. The music business sure is an ugly scene!
Nothing like exploiting domestic violence to make money...sad.
What does this say of our culture? I'm sure Rihanna isn't fully recovered - she's not the same person she was... She just doesn't carry herself the same anymore.
But for her people to think this is a good move is ridiculous. this whole story makes me sad.
I started to lose respect for Rihanna when she started to dress so raunchy. She didn't have to go that route. Also it was headline news that Chris had abused her and she actually showed pictures of her bruised body. Now there is speculation they are going to get back together. Respect now is zero. She should stay away from the bad boys. Once an abuser always an abuser. Someone needs to set this girl straight.
Its funny how everyone hates on Breezy...Keep hating if no one has noticed yet...they clearly dont give a f*** So either you enjoy the music or you don't but no one cares about your opinion but you-at the end of the day. Worst examples of youth?? Give me a break..Do you know what your kids are doing behind your back?? lmfao..Big ups to the talented black youth of the day getting paper and not giving a f***.
Ah, the Queen of Tramp Pop is back, singing another profanity laced, classless ode to how wild it feels to touch her body here, there and everywhere!
Thankfully, the Grammies recognized the talent of Adele and bestowed the awards on a woman who could sing and whose songs have an element of class and dignity to them.
It is a shame that we have lowered our standards to the point where a mid-level talent like her can make a fortune warbling through tasteless songs while dressed and gyrating around like some pole dancer!
I hate to "blame the victim", but if she is, in fact, back with this abusive, equally untalented performer, then they truly deserve each other!
Yesterday I posted yet again what I thought of Rhianna going back with Brown - all her PSA interviews after the big incident for girls not to get into such relationships.
After hearing parts of the two songs on her new album -the lyrics, most had to be bleeped out - but now I seriously believe they deserve each other, that's for sure.
I wouldn't call this crap music. The song and the people involved are the worst examples for the youth today. Shame on anyone, that would exploit two very immature young people. Rihanna needs to give her head a shake and Chris Brown should not have been given a free pass after the beating. It's all about the money.
They deserve each other !! Both foul at all levels, sound, smell, looks and personalities..
Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll beat the crap out of each other, to the piont where we never have to hear of them again..
I caught part of one of his videos today and I'd like nothing more than to never hear of this foul-mouthed low-life again.
And he can take Rihanna with him. Each is as gross as the other.
