Ashton3

Ashton Kutcher has a Twitter following of almost 9.5 million, making him one of the most followed celebrities out there. To put it in perspective, he has more followers than Oprah or Ellen, although Lady Gaga has almost twice as many, clocking in at 18.7 million. Still, @aplusk has considerable reach when he's saying anything of value...which is rarely.

Now it's being reported that Ashton has begun blocking certain journalists from seeing his Tweets. On Monday morning Star Magazine/RadarOnline.com top execs David Perel and Dylan Howard were blocked by the Two and a Half Men star, along with a handful of other journalists. This is presumably because they were the first to break the stories about Ashton's cheating on wife Demi Moore, the dissolution of their marriage, and Demi's health issues.

In fact Ashton has hired lawyer L.Stanton Stein to make sure the situation between himself and Demi, who was taken to the hospital a week ago after suffering a seizure some are saying was due to taking Adderall and battling anorexia, doesn't reflect poorly on him in the press. In other words, Ashton is lawyering up and baring his teeth. Sort of.

The thing is, Ashton's Twitter account is public, which means that anyone can read it, even if they aren't on Twitter. You can block people from seeing your feed when they are logged into their own accounts, but if they log out and then simply go to twitter.com/aplusk, it's all there to be seen. The only way Ashton could really block anyone is if he were to make his account private, which it isn't, so what's the point? Beyond a symbolic "I'm taking my ball and going home!"

It was Star magazine who first broke the details of Ashton and Demi's impending $290 million divorce 9 weeks before they announced their separation. Star also published exclusive photos of Ashton partying on his 6th wedding anniversary with a number of girls in a San Diego hotel penthouse, where he reportedly slept with 23-year-old Sara Leal.

"Just found out @aplusk has blocked @IMPerel and I from following him on Twitter." Dylan Howard tweeted. Howard is a Senior Executive Editor, so he couldn't possibly have tweeted "... @IMPerel and I..." instead of "... @IMPerel and me..." because then he'd really be saying "Just found out @aplusk has blocked I from following him on Twitter." Which would be silly. Oh, wait, that's exactly what he did.

I think Ashton has come under a huge amount of scrutiny, and that there are many layers to any relationship falling apart. It's clear that, despite his indiscretions, he's not the only loose screw in the Kutcher/Moore tool box. Perhaps the truth will come out, not that it's anyone's business, but it's clear that, in his own way, he is starting to stand up for himself.

Thoughts?

all this fuss for a guy who couldnt act his way out of a paper bag. His best career move was a sham marriage to a fading starlet.

"…anyways…"

@Mike, I so agree w/you about Twitter being cheesy to the max. It's like people either really WANT to get in deep doo doo or they're too stupid to know that could happen.

Close your account; Twitter is so cheesy anyways. I understand the stereotype of "social networking", but... LOL

Why is this news? Such as waste of space.

Ha. I love your Dylan Howard grammar take-down. So out of left field.
